Students can complete their degree in five semesters. Evening and Saturday classes allow students to work while they study.

This is a unique IT program that prepares you to be successful in Information Systems; Technology Management; Cloud Technologies; Python Programming; Network Security; Data Analytics and related fields.

Degree Pathway


You can transfer 60 credits from any regionally accredited institution of higher learning and apply it to your bachelor's degree in Information Technology. The 60 credits must include required general education distribution courses. There are four ways that you can transfer these credits.

 

Associate of Science

Bachelor's Degree (non-technical) *

Applicants with non-technical bachelor's degrees can apply as second bachelor's degree candidates.

 

60 Transferable Credits *

Transfer 60 credits from any regionally accredited institution. Applicants must meet admissions  requirements.

* Note: Quantitative Reasoning or higher and a four-credit science class with a lab are required. A software design or programming class
(ITP 100 or higher for NOVA students) is recommended.

What You’ll Study

The program will provide you with a solid foundation in problem-solving, analytical thinking, writing, communication, and information technology and computing skills that make you competitive for technical employment or advanced degree completion.

Required Foundation Courses

The B.P.S. in Information Technology is a degree completion program that requires successful completion of 120 credits, 60 of which must be completed at GW. Up to 60 credits can be transferred from coursework taken at other regionally accredited institutions of higher education. This program is designed for individuals who currently hold an associate’s degree or have earned at least 60 credit hours towards their undergraduate degree.

Admissions Information

To be considered for admission to the Information Technology BPS program, you must have earned one of the following from a regionally accredited college/university with a range of courses that satisfies the program's general education distribution requirement: 

  • Associate’s degree in science, technology or related fields, or
  • Non-technical bachelor's degree, if applying as a second bachelor's degree candidate, or 
  • 60 transferrable credit hours

Requirements for Transfer Credits: 

The General Education Distribution Minimum Requirement includes a total of 22 credit hours as follows:

  • Mathematics (Quantitative Reasoning or higher) or Statistics (3 credit hours)
  • Natural or physical science with lab (4 credit hours)
  • Arts and humanities (3 credit hours)
  • Social and behavioral sciences (6 credit hours)
  • Written communication or composition (6 credit hours)
  • Students also need 38 credits in electives, some of which should be IT-related, for a total of 60 transferrable credit hours.
  • Acceptable transfer coursework must be successfully completed from a regionally accredited institution and earned with a grade of C or higher (C-, D and F do not transfer).

Additional Admissions Requirements: 

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.70 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Proof of high school completion (final high school transcript, GED, or copy of high school diploma), unless an associate's or bachelor's degree was earned
  • Required application materials

Applicants that have complete applications are eligible to request an application fee waiver by 11:59 p.m. on the Priority Deadline.* To request an application fee waiver, contact your program representative before submitting your application. Fee waiver details. Applications received after the Final Deadline will continue to be processed, space permitting.

Tuition & Aid 

GW tuition and fees are comparable to the national average for private universities. These costs are set by the GW Board of Trustees and generally increase year to year, variable by program and location.
