Sample Lecture Series
In this learning unit, students play the role of a business consultant who has been tasked with developing a business plan proposal—a high-level precursor to a full business plan. The week’s lecture will introduce you to the purpose of business plans as well as a framework for examining the main components. Our framework examines the People, Opportunity, Context, and Risk and Reward as the elements of a business plan. To be clear, a business plan isn’t used for planning or launching a new title. That is what a book P&L is for, which we discuss in a separate learning unit. The business plan can be used for launching a new imprint, an entire new product line, an overseas office, or an entirely new business.
