In 1999, Mr. Browne began a career as a police officer with the San Diego Police Department. Personal and family, rather than professional considerations brought him to Salt Lake City in 2006, where he began employment with the West Valley City Police Department as a police officer, field training officer, detective, and sergeant.

As a detective, Josh has covered multiple specialties, including youth offenders, sex crimes, property crimes, and violent crimes. Prior to his promotion to sergeant, Mr. Browne was assigned to the Special Victims Unit within the West Valley City Police Department, has operated as a patrol and detective sergeant, and has also supervised the Community Policing Unit. Josh possesses a B.S. from Excelsior College (Albany, NY) and an M.P.S. in Security and Safety Leadership from The George Washington University. He operated as a graduate teaching assistant within the Master of Security and Safety Leadership Program, later named the Master of Homeland Security Program, from 2013-2018 and began functioning as an adjunct professor in the Master of Homeland Security Program in 2018.

In addition to his role as an adjunct professor within the Master of Homeland Security program at The George Washington University, Mr. Browne continues to operate as a police sergeant. He is also the founder of Heal the Badge Consulting, focusing on the fortification of law enforcement professionals, leaders, and their families, by providing the necessary resilience and leadership tools for success within, outside and beyond the law enforcement career.
