Newly admitted students are being welcomed to GW’s College of Professional Studies (CPS) at a series of “Meet & Greet” events, where they can meet faculty, staff and other admitted students before fall classes begin. The events also give them the opportunity to ask questions and to gather information from specialized departments like admissions, financial aid, student and career services.
During the past month CPS has hosted two Meet & Greet events, the first on May 23 at GW’s Virginia Science & Technology Campus, located in Ashburn, VA, and the second on June 21 at GW’s Arlington Education Center, located near the Ballston metro station in Arlington, VA. Approximately 200 new students attended these events, only a portion of those admitted for fall.
The event agendas included:
- Greetings and introductions to the College given by Interim Dean Chris Deering.
- Presentations by Maria Escoto, Director of CPS Admissions and representatives from the GW Office of Student Financial Assistance and the GW Office of Military and Veteran Student Services.
- Introduction to CPS Student and Career Services, presented by Melissa Feuer, Assistant Dean of Students, CPS Student Services and Career Services
- Program-specific breakout sessions, where students met their program directors and other students accepted in their programs.
Students were able to get assistance registering for classes and obtain answers to other questions. We look forward to welcoming our newest students to campus this fall!
