Congratulations to Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM) students Bridget Anshus, Jacqueline Beckwith, Samantha Chavin and Thomas Erb for winning The Bryce Harlow Foundation Fellowships.
The Foundation awards fellowships to outstanding graduate students pursuing careers in professional advocacy through government relations and lobbying. The fellowship requires students to work full time while attending graduate school part time. Tuition awards are $8,000 for the academic year.
"I was delighted to learn that four GSPM students were named Bryce Harlow Foundation Fellows for this academic year. These students are top in their class and will certainly benefit from their involvement with the Bryce Harlow Foundation. I have great respect for the work the Bryce Harlow Foundation does in promoting professional integrity in the fields of public policy and legislative advocacy," commented GSPM director Dr. Lara Brown.
The Foundation considers its Bryce Harlow Fellows to be the future of professional advocacy — those who are committed to practicing the art and science of lobbying with the highest level of integrity.
The Foundation selects awardees for their academic excellence, their career paths being in alignment with the Foundation’s goals, as well as other criteria. The evaluation process includes:
- CAREER— Strong interest in a career in advocacy related to government relations and advocacy
- LEADERSHIP — Professional achievement and leadership potential
- ETHICS & INTEGRITY—Knowledge of the advocacy process and demonstrated high standards
Bridget Anshus
Master's Candidate, Political Management
Bridget works as an Associate at Venn Strategies. She is also studying for a master’s degree in political management at GW’s Graduate School of Political Management.
Jacqueline Beckwith
Master's Candidate, Political Management
Jackie is the Manager of Grassroots Programs for the American Trucking Association. She is also studying for a master’s degree in political management at GW’s Graduate School of Political Management.
Samantha Chavin
Master's Candidate, Political Management
Sammy is the Public Policy Associate for MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger and is working toward a master’s degree in political management at GW’s Graduate School of Political Management.
Thomas Erb
Master's Candidate, Legislative Affairs
Tom is a Policy Fellow at the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions. He is also working toward a master’s degree in legislative affairs at GW’s Graduate School of Political Management.
