Congratulations to Melanie Jonas, the new Finance Director for CPS, effective December 1. Ms. Jonas, the former senior financial analyst, graciously and informally stepped into her new role after Rachel Venezian, the previous finance director, left GW in June. As finance director, she will play a critical role in the operation of the college as part of the senior management team.
“The finance director role is critical for the operation of the college. Melanie's financial skills, knowledge and experience, as well as her measured and thoughtful analyses, means that we are in excellent hands,” remarked acting dean Melissa Feuer.
Ms. Jonas joined the College’s financial team in September 2018. Before GW, she worked as a senior tax consultant for Deloitte and a senior tax associate for BDO USA, LLP. She is a Certified Public Accountant by the Virginia Board of Accountancy (VBOA).
In addition to her professional work experience, her formal education has solidly prepared her for her new role. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University; a master’s of science in taxation from Walsh College; and is currently pursuing an additional master’s in public policy from GW (Class of 2022).
“I am excited to formally step into this role at CPS and look forward to help support and grow the College. We have a great team and leadership in CPS and I’m honored to continue to be a part of this team. “
